The South African Constitution provides for due process, including the right to a fair, public trail, legal counsel and the right to appeal. The Constitution also stipulates an independent and impartial judiciary, and the Bill of Rights has human rights entrenched in it.

New laws are passed in South Africa every year – in the region of 10 new bills were passed in 2010 alone – requiring that legal practitioners keep their fingers on the pulse of new developments in the legal system.
