South Africa has pledged that the first FIFA World Cup to be held on African soil will be the best tournament ever staged. Government is funding the infrastructural development the event demands to coincide with its priorities of economic growth and development. To this end President Thabo Mbeki said: "The government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that everything is done to host a tournament that meets the expectations of billions of football fans across the world. Together we will ensure the resounding success of the first FIFA African World Cup."
Training officials to effectively manage sports people, events and facilities has become an imperative to meet the goals set by government and CE at UP’s short courses in this area can contribute to reaching this goal.
