Accreditation and Programme Recognition

CE at UP actively participated in the institutional audit of the University of Pretoria, which was conducted by the Higher Education Quality Committee in May 2007.

Various sector education and training authorities (SETAs) were visited during 2007 to explore the desirability of programme accreditation by the SETAs, since a great deal of ignorance is still prevalent among clients in this regard.

Recognition of the Employee Health Benefits course by the Financial Services Board (FSB) was achieved during 2007. The course is recognised by Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) as being fit and proper. An agreement was reached between the School of Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) to register CE at UP’s courses on the list of approved continuing professional development (CPD) activities for the engineering profession. Other professional bodies and institutions, including the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), were also contacted for information and recognition of courses for CPD activities.

The certification of CPD activities are handled according to the policies of the professional bodies and institutions.
